Navarro's Promise - Review (Edition One)

Navarro's Promise - Book #24 in the Breeds series by Lora Leigh
Navarro and Mica

It is great to see Mica (Elizabeth’s Wolf #3) all grown up. Although we don’t see the strong friendship that has built between her and Cassie throughout the years, this is where we get to hear of it. And her dad Mike ex- CIA.

Ahh, Navarro has been bred as the prefect undercover infiltrator. As with another breeds in the series before him  he let it define who he is.  Navarro has absolutely no desire for a mate. I found him more than pigheaded at times in his belief. If he truly had not wanted a mate he would have walked away years ago, not thought about it now. I also found him more human in his belief, it seem that the prefect infiltrator is more in touch with his human side then his animal.

Mica has grown up around Breeds and as a result she trusts and distrusts them, her understanding of them is way better than most humans. Mica strong personality allows her to hide her emotions, and she hides them well, so that even Breeds can't detect them, which is a plus growing up around them. I love that she goes nose to nose with Navarro, demanding all of him not just the small piece of who he thinks he has to offer.

All in all, I found this story as enjoyable as others in the series, it is a series I love and I am always looking forward to the next installment:

But I would not recommend getting the first edition of the hard copy of this book, the second editions will hopefully have all corrections made. However the corrections may have been made with the digital versions. You will need to ask.

Ok, to answer a few of the questions asked of me and some that are flying around the blogs.
Yes! There is a range of errors in this edition of Navarros’ Promise.
From missing love scenes, some bad editing that runs throughout the book.

Please note this not criticising the story or the series of which I love, its however criticising the quality control of the publishers and the authors’ final check.

I am a true believer that we are all human and that because of that we can and do make mistakes now and then.

Firstly the publishing company – If I was an author with this company I would be asking one major question of them.
What was the outcome of the beta readers? and show me the questionnaires

The publisher provides the back up to the Author, in the form of editing. This means once they hand over their work any mistakes are weeded out in the beta read and editing.

Secondly the Author Lora Leigh – Thank you for the apology

However Lora as owner of the work, she needs to double check her work before sending it in. (Having a reader to go over who is willing to tell you the truth before it goes is invaluable)

Lastly –
This is not the first lot of mistakes. This has happen before with books published with this publisher, although there were not errors in the book. There was in the synopsis of Styxs Storm. The synopsis or product description is incorrect at almost all major online bookstores (even the publishers own store). Also Lora has the same incorrect one on her website. I have emailed her (and the publisher) several times in regards to it but she has yet to change it or reply.

Big stores rely on the fact that the publishers have checked that the information they supply on the product they have is true and correct.  It is in their(publisher) best interest to check this is done.

There was no such problems with Live Wire, which leaves one thinking.

OUTCOME: I have withdrawn this edition of Navarros Promise from my catalogue, this is not due to the story its great. It is more like I cannot knowingly sell a product that I know has so many errors in it. As a small online store I have read over 80% of the books that I choose to sell. So I’ll wait for the second edition, with corrections.

And as a footnote. To Lora Fans.

I find it unbelievable that in your reviews you have added to bookstores and blogs throughout the web. That so many have not noticed, or chosen not to mention the errors in your reviews. As readers if we are willing to read sub standard editing work, then it is what the publishing companies will continue to supply. Your reviews encourage the purchasing of fault product. I am sure that if you were to purchase an MP3 from a well known high quality supplier(not a cheap one), that would not allow you to upload songs to it. You would be in the store the next day complaining or requesting a refund.

Why is a book any different?

I would not recommend getting the first edition of the hard copy of this book, however the corrections may have been made with the digital version.  You will need to ask.

Also I have forward a copy of this post to the publisher and Lora....

Cheers

What do you prefer?

What level of spice do you look for in a book, is one that burns your hands as you turn the page or is it a slow building ember that becomes a flame?

Is it the setting you love Historical, Contemporary, Paranormal or Urban Fantasy?

It's a difficult question to answer, at least for me. I love reading a large range of novels romance, erotica, paranormal romance and urban fantasy books with both!

What would you chose?

Navarro's Promise Errors and missing pages - From Lora's Forum

Lora Leigh’s Navarro’s Promise Errors

Lora has just posted on her forum working to fix this issue:
NAVARRO’S PROMISE Missing Pages and errors

I figured out what happened with Navarro’s Promise, and I am so sorry.
The missing portion of the scene, the sex scene between Navarro and Mica somehow managed to find its way out of the file. I don’t know if I deleted it to fix it, or someone accidently deleted, or perhaps laid it aside to fix and forgot to put it back in. However it happened, it was inexcusable that I didn’t go over the file again to ensure the parts I was working on had been fixed propertly. I do promise you I will be going through the files more closely in the future, and will be more diligent in ensuring nothing like this happens again.

Within the week, you will be able to find the missing pages at www.loraleigh.com. They’re currently being gone over and should be ready to post this time next week.

Until then, I hope you’ve been able to enjoy the story despite the missing pages.

Thank you, Lora Leigh

ADDENDUM
Lora wanted me to add that reprints will come out soon with the entire book. No missing pages.

Tania Note:

I still loved the book although it did have a lot of typos and the missing scene can be download from her website

HIDDEN AWAY - Review

Hidden Away – KGI series

Garrett Kelly and Sarah Daniels

HIDDEN AWAY is the third book in the KGI series. I didn’t find this as intense as the last two. I liked the fact that the story wasn’t a carbon copy of the previous books in the series. It focused on the romance with the suspense wrapped around it, not sit on the edge of the seat as I did with the last one. This slowed it down in parts, but didn’t hinder the overall intensity or my enjoyment of the story.

If you have read the past two books in the series Garrett can be a bit stand offish and non-trusting of those he doesn’t know. But he is also so damn calm, patient, chivalrous, protective and caring of those he loves. Where do you find a man like that?  Garrett is doing a little undercover work while rehabbing his injured shoulder.
I liked Sarah from the off. I found her actions and reactions made her character believable. This in turn made you believe that you would react in the same manner if in that situation. I liked how Garrett gave Sarah space to find her feet.
One thing I did have trouble with was Sarah brother, I wanted to dislike him but I found I liked him more then I should have.
The Kelly family keeps the KGI stories real and humorous, this one brought the Rusty saga to a head and I loved it. Chapter 39 get the hankie ready!
The slow building romance was perfect for Garrett and Sarah, if they jumped into the sack from the start it would have made the plot unbelievable. It did make it a little less steamy then the last book, but it tied in well to the whole arc of the story.
